I have recently been shocked at the fact that educators don’t really see the need for a rubric. They either find them too specific or too vague. But, I am not really sure they are seeing the big picture on this one. Rubrics are great for students and teachers.

Here is a group of infographics that relate to your first day of each teaching term. They are mostly the ones I work through within the beginning weeks of classes. I have included the QR codes for each so you can find them easily. The five things I do at the beginning of each term is Greet students, Set the rules, Team build, Grab or Gain their attention, and Assess prior knowledge.
Students will at some point be required to give a presentation. If the students are prepared, they are more likely to be comfortable. Here are 27 ways to help prepare students for successful presentations. The main thing I left out was to create an open,team environment… where mistakes = learning…. and every presentation is a success.

Is creativity still alive in our students? What role do we need to play to encourage creativity?
It seems like creativity is still in my students, but buried deep inside waiting for an opportunity to escape. It takes time to get it to the surface and then out to share. But as we allow time for ingenuity, they rise to the occasion.
With the advent and push for more technology use in the classroom is there still a place for creativity?
I believe so.
